VALDOSTA – A Brooks County State Court Judge has been arrested for driving under the influence, the Georgia State Patrol confirms.

Judge William Folsom, 68, was arrested on Monday just after 6:30 p.m. after being involved in a crash.

GSP says the two-vehicle crash happened on Shiloh Road near Amber Drive in Valdosta.

The crash reports states that Folsom– one of the drivers– smelled of alcohol, had glassy, bloodshot eyes, and appeared unsteady on his feet.

When troopers asked if he had consumed any alcoholic beverages, Folsom said he’d had a glass and a half of wine earlier. Officials say he was cooperative during the investigation.

GSP says a breathalyzer test revealed Folsom had a blood alcohol content of .09, which is .01 above the legal limit.

Folsom was arrested for DUI and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
