THOMASVILLE – Valdosta Golfer John Ungar captured his second South Georgia Seniors event held at Country Oaks GC in Thomasville.

Ungar posted a plus seven in the modified stableford event.

Playing behind Ungar was Mike Harpe of Valdosta who posted a plus six to take second place. Glen Arven member Robert Miber finished third.

Making the turn, Ungar was up by three points over Harpe. On the back nine, Harpe came storming back but needed one more point to tie Ungar and force a playoff.

Harpe still had a good day as he knocked Ungar out of the Cheddars’ “Closest to the Pin” contest and captured three skins.

Robert Milberg also had three skins while Ungar and Jack Coffey of Valdosta each had one skin.

Absent from the event was current first place and point leader David Beals of Thomasville. With his win Ungar pulled within three points of Beals going into the South Georgia Seniors Championship on Tuesday December 13 at Kinderlou GC in Valdosta.
