Thomas County to close prison

THOMAS Co. – Commissioners in Thomas County have voted to close the Thomas County Prison.

The prison will close its doors on June 30, 2017 and is expected to save the county $300,000 a year.

The prison currently employs 29 people and houses 185 inmates.
