LOWNDES Co. – Detectives with the Special Operations Division of the Sheriff’s Office have culminated a nearly month long investigation into the trafficking of Methamphetamine into Lowndes County.

On Thursday evening around 9:30 p.m.,  investigators stopped a vehicle being driven by Douglas Pearson of Tampa, Fla. on Lakes Boulevard in Lake Park after he exited the interstate.

During a search of the vehicle, investigators located almost one pound of Crystal Methamphetamine, a .40 caliber firearm and a quantity of a Schedule 4 narcotic that were being transported by Pearson.

Douglas Pearson was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail. Pearson is charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, Possession of a schedule 4 narcotic and Violation of probation.

“Fantastic work. The Special Operations Division put a lot of time into this investigation, and their seizure of the drugs and the arrest of Mr. Pearson prevented this terrible drug from ever making it to the streets,” said Sheriff Chris Prine.
