Woman killed in Madison County crash

LEE, Fla. (WCTV Eyewitness News) – A 52-year-old woman is dead following a fatal crash on I-10 in Madison County late Wednesday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was killed when the vehicle she was driving collided with a tree.

Troopers say she traveled into the median before over-correcting her vehicle, traveling back across the westbound lanes and into the tree around mile marker 266, about four miles from the Lee exit.

The identity of the victim has not been identified. Troopers say Margaret Saranko Alred, 66, of Plant City was a passenger in the vehicle and was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare in serious condition.

The deceased victim was not wearing a seatbelt according to an FHP report.
