Police searching for suspect in Valdosta homicide

Release from the Valdosta Police Department

On 10-19-2016 at approximately 6:00 pm, Valdosta Police responded to a call from concerned family members. The family members advised that a loved one had not been heard from and requested that a welfare check be performed.

Uniformed Patrol officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of North Toombs Street in reference to the request. While at the residence, officers discovered a person inside the residence who was deceased as the result of foul play.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.

The crime scene was secured and Valdosta Police Department Persons Crimes Detectives along with Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory Crime Scene Technicians responded to the scene.

Detectives are currently analyzing evidence at the scene and speaking with witnesses.

Based on the information gathered, this incident does not appear to be a random act and the department has already developed persons of interest.


“Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the Valdosta Police Department immediately” Said Lieutenant Bembry.
