Lowndes Dominates Camden County

| October 22, 2016

The Lowndes High Vikings defeated the Camden County Wildcats 43-10 to win their second straight region game.

The very first play of the game didn’t go as planned for the Vikings. Camden returned a fumble for a touchdown after a hard hit to Tyson Harris.  Camden took an early lead, 7-0.

Lowndes came back on the very next drive and tied it at 7 after a rushing touchdown by Michael Barrett.

Travis Tisdale got the running game started when he ran a 38-yard rushing touchdown and a one yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter to take the lead, 21-10.

JD Lee started off the high scoring second half with a 5-yard rushing touchdown to extend the lead 28-10.

After Lee’s touchdown, Barrett took over with a 4-yard rushing touchdown and a 25-yard passing touchdown to Marcus Gary to give the Vikings the win.

Two Failed extra point kicks were a concern for Lowndes throughout the night.

Tisdale was the leading rusher for the Vikings with 14 rushes for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Barrett went 7 for 11 for 77 yards and one touchdown and one interception. Marcus Gary caught the only receiving touchdown of the night.

The Vikings defense played with a chip on their shoulder. They sacked the Camden quarterback four times and had eight tackles for losses.

Lowndes plays at Colquitt County next week for the region championship at 7:30.
