Lowndes Defeats Ware County In Dramatic Comeback

VALDOSTA – Lowndes High School defeated the Gators of Ware County 56-35 after being down two touchdowns.

The Gators came out of the gates swinging, opening up a 21-7 lead over the Vikings before Travis Tisdale got things going for Lowndes.

With just under 20 seconds left in the first half, Tisdale ran a 65-yard touchdown run to give all the momentum to the Vikings for the rest of the game. Ware County lead going into halftime, 28-21.

After a one touchdown lead for the Gators at the half, Lowndes had 35 unanswered points in the second half to give the Vikings a dramatic comeback. Tisdale and the Lowndes’ quarterback, Micheal Barrett, took it upon themselves to give the Vikings the victory over the Gators.

Barrett finished the night 12/15 for 362 yards and three passing touchdowns. He also rushed 12 times for 108 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Tisdale was the leading rusher for the night as he rushed eight times for 101 yards and one touchdown. Tyson Harris was the leading receiver as he finished with five receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Lowndes has a bye week next week but resumes play on October 14th at home when the Tift County Blue Devils come into town.
