DPH Commissioner visits Lowndes County Health Department

LOWNDES Co. – Brenda Fitzgerald, M.D., commissioner, Jamie Howgate, MPH, chief of staff, and Diane Durrence, APRN, deputy chief nurse of the Georgia Department of Public Health visited with public health staff and the Lowndes County Board of Health on September 27.

Dr. Fitzgerald and staff are on a listening tour throughout Georgia to find out what health department and staff needs are in each county and/or program.

Dr. Fitzgerald and staff had the opportunity to observe an oral health visit at Echols County Schools with district dental hygienist, Cumi Fillion. Student’s teeth were checked, along with receiving a toothbrush, dental floss, toothpaste, and dental education.
