| October 26, 2016

VALDOSTA – The Lowndes High School Fastpitch softball team is headed to the AAAAAAA State Championship Tournament in Columbus, Ga, as part of the Elite Eight, the final teams standing from a field of 48.

The double elimination tournament will run from Thursday through Saturday, with the Vikettes’ push for the championship starting Thursday at 6 pm.

The girls are extraordinarily excited as this is the first time in five years that Lowndes has made the journey to Columbus. The team is currently 27-4 for the season, including a complete sweep of the region, outscoring opponents 84-1 in their nine region wins. Lone senior and first baseman, Morgan Parrish, isn’t surprised by the team’s success.
“I know how well we play together as a team. I think we have a great chance at winning state with the talent we have,” Parrish said in an interview with Chris Beckham on NewsTalk 105.9. “It’s a great group of girls, and we work hard.”
For those who cannot make the trip to Columbus, the games will be broadcast live on Rock 106.9. Fans can tune in or listen to the stream at or via a streaming app. For more details, please visit the station’s website.
