VSU Ready for Okefenokee Football Classic Oct. 1

VALDOSTA — The Valdosta State University Blazers will face off against the Kentucky State University Thorobreds during the 2016 Okefenokee Football Classic at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Waycross Memorial Stadium.

Tickets are $12 for general admission seating and $15 for reserved seating and may be purchased by visiting www.vstateblazers.com or by calling the Blazer Athletics Ticket Office at (229) 333-7328.

The VSU Alumni Association will help kick off the Okefenokee Football Classic festivities with a low-country boil, live entertainment, games, free swag, and more from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Bit Tanner Field, which is located at the intersection of Clifton Grove Street and Harrison Street across from the football stadium in Waycross. Advance tickets for the tailgating feast and party are $10 for adults, or $4 for fans 14 years of age and younger, and available till 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, by emailing alumni@valdosta.edu or calling (229) 333-5797. All meal tickets purchased at the event will cost $15. This special event is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni, retirees, and friends of the university.

The Okefenokee Football Classic will feature performances by VSU’s Blazin’ Brigade, as well as The Marching 101 Band of South Carolina State University and the Golden Gator Band of Ware County High School.
