Valdosta man arrested on cocaine, crack, meth and marijuana charges

LOWNDES Co. – A Valdosta man was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly trafficking cocaine and possessing other drugs.

At approximately 5 p.m., deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff Office received a report that a driver of a vehicle had gotten into a dispute with another person and may have a had a firearm. The caller provided a description of the vehicle, according to LCSO reports.

“A deputy spotted the car on Highway 84 near Smith Street and noticed the car had excessively dark window tint,” said LCSO Capt. Stryde Jones.  “A traffic stop was performed and the deputy began speaking with the driver, Crontis Cobb and immediately noticed a smell of marijuana emitting from inside the car. The deputy also learned that Cobb was wanted for an outstanding warrant.”

Cobb was placed under arrest, and a search of the vehicle was conducted during which the deputies located a Ruger handgun that had been reported as stolen, 86 grams of powder Cocaine, 16 grams of Crack Cocaine, 8 grams of
Methamphetamine and 21 grams of Marijuana, reports stated.

“All of the drugs were packaged as if to be sold,” Jones said.

Cobb was taken to the Lowndes County Jail, and in addition to the already existing warrants additional warrants were issued for Trafficking in Cocaine, Possession of tools for the commission of a crime, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Theft by receiving stolen property, Possession of Marijuana with the intent to distribute and Possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

“It is great to see these drugs and the stolen gun taken off the streets,” said Sheriff Chris Prine. “This was great work by deputies who spotted the vehicle and handled this situation. Our detectives will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stolen handgun and more arrest may be made.”
