Two teens arrested for home burglaries

VALDOSTA – Two teens were arrested Friday night in connection with a pair of home burglaries after they were found walking around the neighborhood after the incidents.

At approximately 9 p.m., Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a residence on Honeysuckle Drive in reference to an alarm, according to LCSO Capt. Stryde Jones.

“When the first deputy arrived, he found the home had been broken into by burglars, and a search of the area began using a Sheriff’s Office canine to track,” Jones said.

Deputies then learned that a neighboring home had also been burglarized.

“Assisting deputies soon located two persons walking in the neighborhood, and while speaking with them discovered their involvement in the burglaries,” Jones said.

Shabazz Woodson, 18, and a 15-year-old male were charged with burglary.

Crime Scene Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office processed both scenes and collected forensic evidence. During the investigation, detectives recovered all of the property taken during the burglary, reports stated.

“The quick response of the deputies is no doubt what led to the arrest of this pair,” said Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine. “We believe others may be involved, and I expect additional arrests. Our detectives are continuing to work on these cases and examining the evidence to see if this group is responsible for other burglaries.”
