LAKELAND – A deadly shooting in Lakeland leaves family and friends grieving the death of Willis Lamar Flintroyal.

Three people were taken to the hospital on Friday, including Flintroyal, who did not survive.

One sister of Flintroyal says the family is still in shock.

She says everyone was enjoying a cookout at his house, before she left when the shooting happened.

“It’s just something you never expected in a million years,” she says. “I never thought that the day would come that someone would give me a phone call and say that my brother was murdered. Is it hard? It’s very hard.”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has charged Lewis Geddie with Flintroyal’s murder.

Officials say moments later, Geddie was found shot by Fredrick Tyrone Calhoun.

It happened only a few blocks away at the intersection of MLK Drive and 8th Street.

Calhoun is also facing several charges.

“It hurts. To me, it’s just a senseless killing,” says Daisy Calhoun, mother of Fredrick Calhoun.

She says she’s also the former foster parent of Lewis Geddie, who she says has schizophrenia.

“It just doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t really feel real,” says Calhoun.

Calhoun says Fredrick, Geddie, and Flintroyal all grew up together.

GBI says the investigation is still active.

They’re asking anyone with information to contact GBI at (912) 389-4103 or Lakeland Police at (229) 482-3300.
