Winning is a matter of perspective. Both campaigns claimed victory as they work to shape the way voters see their candidate.

“I think he won for sure and I think Hillary Clinton’s entire agenda was to try to throw Donald Trump off and it didn’t work. He kept his cool and I think it was a good night for Donald Trump,” said Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

Priebus said he thinks Trump showed the American people that he’s ready to be president adding, “Trump was restrained throughout the night.”

Priebus isn’t the only one with an opinion.

“I don’t know where he sat but I sat right in front and I didn’t see any victory lap from Donald Trump. I think when you are short on specifics and you don’t have a plan and you come in with wrong, wrong, wrong it’s not a prescription for the future of the country,” said Democratic National Committee Interim Chairperson Donna Brazile.

Brazile said she thinks Clinton came to the debate prepared saying Clinton is ready to handle the responsibilities of serving as commander in chief.

“So I would give advantage to Clinton,” said Brazile.

It’s not just the candidates who are on message. In spin alley campaign surrogates take on the job of shaping the debate all in an effort to get their candidate into the White House.
