Officer stabbed, suspect shot in South Albany

ALBANY – Albany police are investigating an early Wednesday morning incident in which a police officer was stabbed and a suspect was shot by the officer.

At approximately 5 a.m., the Albany Police Department responded to a call in the 500 block of South Madison Street.

While few details have been released, WALB is reporting the officer was stabbed by an unknown object and the suspect was shot by the officer. The conditions of both the officer and the suspect is unknown.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist.
