LOWNDES Co. – Last week, Sheriff Chris Prine was sworn in as the President of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association during the organization’s summer conference.

Honorable Hugh Thompson, Chief Justice for the Supreme Court of Georgia administered the oath to the group of incoming officers.

As the president, Sheriff Prine will lead the executive board of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association which advocates on behalf of the state’s 159 sheriffs and operates several homes for abused, abandoned and neglected children, among other programs.

“I am extremely honored to not only serve as president of this association, but to represent Lowndes County. Law enforcement is constantly evolving, especially in today’s world, and the staff of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association works tirelessly advocating for the office of sheriff and the associated charitable causes,” said Prine. “The opportunity to serve as the president of such an honorable group is extremely humbling. I am truly honored.”
