Release from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office

In recent weeks, the Sheriff’s Office has received numerous reports of thefts from vehicles in residential neighborhoods. As a result of these thefts, Sheriff’s Office patrols were increased and this past weekend a deputy identified a group of individuals.

The information was forwarded to detectives and on Monday, using the information provided by the deputy, detectives linked one of the individuals to the thefts. On Monday evening detectives arrested Joshua Robinson at his residence and during a search recovered some of the property that had been stolen.

Joshua Robinson, 19, was taken to the Lowndes County Jail and will appear in an arraignment hearing Tuesday afternoon where a bond will be considered.

“Our detectives are continuing to examine the evidence that has been collected and are working to link other cases. Additional charges will most likely be filed and if other people are identified as being involved more arrest will be made,” said Sheriff Chris Prine. “We are glad to have made an arrest but have a lot of work to do. A lot of people trusted their property was safe in their driveway and this person violated that. This was also a great job by the deputy who identified the person that led to this arrest. One piece of information is often all it takes to break a case. That was proven here.”

Sheriff Prine is asking anyone who may have information about Joshua Robinson or may have received or purchased property from him to contact the Sheriff’s Office at {229} 671-2950; or anonymous tips can be provided at {229} 671-2985 or on-line at The Sheriff’s Office is also accessible on Facebook.
