Lowndes school bus involved in I-75 wreck, injuries reported

LOWNDES CO. – A Lowndes County School bus has been involved in a wreck on Interstate 75. Several students have been injured and are being transported for medical care.

Lowndes County Schools Bus 0908 which transfers students from Lowndes High School to Lowndes Middle School was involved in a vehicle accident on I-75 south of Exit 16, according to a released statement from Lowndes County Schools.

“Injured students are being transported to SGMC. Uninjured students are being transported to Lowndes Middle School to be picked up by their parents,” stated the release.

The Georgia State Patrol is on the scene and issued a statement:

“All lanes are blocked at this time, and Lowndes County has units on scene at this time as well. EMS is en route due to multiple injuries, unknown number of children on the bus and unknown number of injuries as well.”
