Lake Park store robbed at gunpoint, suspect on the loose

Last Wednesday, August 10 around 9:00 PM deputies responded to R.J.’s Food Mart, located at 7415 Georgia Highway 376, Lake Park in regards to an armed robbery. Once they arrived at the business, the deputies learned that an unknown person who covered their face entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied and the person took the money and fled the business. Detectives were immediately notified as was a Sheriff’s Office canine unit. The canine tracked the person from the store to an area where a vehicle was most likely waiting. Detectives and crime scene investigators processed the business for forensic evidence.

“This business is located in a rural area but we hope someone has heard someone talking or saw something they believe to be suspicious that will help us identify this person,” said Sheriff Prine.
