VALDOSTA – The prayers of every member of the Valdosta Police Department have been answered.

Valdosta Police Officer Randall Hancock, who was ambushed and shot multiple times while trying to assist a citizen on July 8 is being released from the hospital today.

“The Valdosta Police Department would like to thank every organization, business and citizen who has given their prayers, support and well wishes to Officer Hancock, his family, and the members of the Valdosta Police Department, as well as every other member of the law enforcement community,” said VPD said Captain Kari Williams. “I believe that all of the prayers and support have helped Officer Hancock with his recovery, as well as the countless officers who arrived on scene to assist their fellow officer that tragic day.”
