| July 29, 2016

Release from the Georgia State Patrol

On 7/28/2016 at approximately 0735 hours, SFC Jeromy Roberts responded to a two vehicle collision on Whitewater Road near Idlewood Drive in Lowndes County. A blue 2002 Dodge Ram, driven by a 32 year old Henry Dubose of Valdosta, was traveling south on Whitewater Road. A blue 2007 Toyota Tundra, driven by a 43 year old John Foelker of Lake Park, was traveling north on Whitewater Road.  As both vehicles negotiated a curve, the Toyota Tundra left its lane and traveled into the southbound lane striking the Dodge Ram in a head-on collision.

Mr. Dubose was transported to SGMC where he succumbed to his injuries.  Mr. Foelker was pronounced deceased on-scene. Whitewater Road was closed for approximately two hours. Restraints were not used by either driver. Airbags did deploy in both vehicles. Troopers do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a contributing factor in this collision but will be pending a toxicology report. No charges will be made in this collision. Next of kin has been notified for each driver.

I was on my way to work this morning and both vehicles were in the south bound lane as if the north bound vehicle ia the one that ventured into the south bound lane! It made me a few minute late for work but I was still praying for the participants.

We were traveling home from my job in the morning when we came up on this crash. We were one of the first people there. Instead of just passing by like most did, we stopped to see if their was anything that we could do. I would never in my life insert “it made me late for work” how insincere. 2 people lost their life. Families lost A son, a brother, a father. How About you go to their funerals and tell their family it made you late for work. SMH! Praying for families and friends. R.I.P!

Thank you so much for stopping, we appreciate you trying to help. Loosing our family member (Henry) has turned all of our lives upside down. He did leave behind many people who cared for him and depended on him, including three small children and a wife. Please keep our family in your prayers. To the idiot that left the comment about being late, to damn bad my Dear cousin was also on his way to work!!! But he didn’t make it at all so at least you were just late!!

My heart goes out to the families of the victims of this terrible accident. Several years ago my family and I lived off Whitewater Road and so many have been injured and lost their lives on that road. We have been gone for 6 years now but I still call it my home and I am so sorry for your loss.
