LOWNDES Co. – On Tuesday morning, around 7:30 a.m. a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office, I.C.E. team clocked a vehicle at 85 miles-per-hour traveling south on Interstate 75 near the 11 mile marker. The deputy stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver and passenger, both of which were acting abnormally nervous and as the deputy continued his investigation he also noticed the window tint on the car was unusually dark.

A Sheriff’s Office canine unit arrived to assist and while sniffing the outside of the car provided an alert. The interior of the vehicle was searched by deputies who found approximately 68 grams of Ecstasy tablets and quantities of Oxycodone and Adderall tablets.

A “loaded” syringe containing an unknown liquid was found. None of these drugs were prescribed to either the driver, Jeffrey Swisher, 28, or passenger, Tabitha Brittingham, 30, both of whom were placed under arrest.

Swisher and Brittingham were taken to the Lowndes County Jail. Swisher has been charged with Trafficking Ecstasy, Failure to keep drugs in their original container, Possession of MDMA {Adderall} and Speeding. Brittingham has been charged with Trafficking Ecstasy, Failure to keep drugs in their original container and Possession of MDMA {Adderall}.

All of the drugs and the unknown liquid that were seized will be sent to the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Lab for testing.

“The continued work and persistence of our I.C.E. team has resulted in some very successful cases recently. These deputies continue to make a difference locally and throughout the south east with their great work,” said Sheriff Chris Prine.
