Jacksonville Jaguars running back DENARD ROBINSON got into a really bizarre situation early Sunday morning.  He was out driving at around 4:00 in the morning with a female passenger, when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

The car crashed into a pond, and started sinking.  The driver’s side door was submerged.

The police showed up, and they had trouble getting Denard’s attention.  Supposedly, he woke up, then fell back asleep, and they had to knock on the window to wake him up.  The passenger was also “asleep or passed out.”

For some reason, both of them were reluctant to get out of the car, even though it was SINKING INTO THE POND.  It’s unclear how they could’ve both fallen asleep or been knocked out.

Now, I know what you’re thinking:  Both of these people had to be HAMMERED or on something . . . but that was actually NOT the case.  The cops say they screened them, and found them to be sober.

Yesterday, Denard said, quote, “I was involved in a single-car accident, and thankfully, everyone was safe and remained unharmed . . . I should not have been driving that late or when I was that tired, but again, I’m just glad that everyone was safe.  God Bless.”
