VALDOSTA – Following a senior season that included success both on the course and in the classroom, Blazer golf’s Chris Rogers was recognized as a 2016 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Wednesday.

The honor for Rogers comes on the heels of an appearance in the NCAA Regional Tournament at the end of the 2015-16 season and a senior campaign in which the Dawson, Ga. native earned both All-Gulf South Conference and GSC All-Academic honors. Rogers posted a 3.81 grade point average to complement his stroke-average of just over 74 last season.

Eligibility for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar recognition is determined based on academic performance, athletic accomplishments, and character. Honorees must be either a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in at least 50 percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average of under 78.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade point average of 3.2.
