VSU Greek organizations unite for Orlando blood drive

VALDOSTA – Greek organizations at Valdosta State University have banding together to “unite in support” of the victims of the Orlando mass shooting and to donate blood to the American Red Cross.

The VSU Colony of Sigma Lambda Gamma organized the event, which bring 13 campus Greek entities together, said Elizabeth Cavender with Sigma Lambda Gamma.

“This event is to not only to unite in support for Orlando but to raise awareness for local donation center,” Cavender said.

The blood drive is scheudled for Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.. at the American Red Cross at 2517 Bemiss Rd.

“We are using our social medias to heavily promote with the hashtags #VSUGreeksSupportOrlandoVictims #AmericanRedCross and #OrlandoStrong,” Cavender said. “While this event is short notice, it is an amazing sight to see a diverse group of young people coming together in hard times to give back to their own community as well supporting those near and far.”
