VALDOSTA – A Valdosta State student is getting the experience of a lifetime.

Next week, Tamelonie Thomas will attend the United State of Women summit at the White House.

She was selected to join 5,000 other female leaders from across the world.

During college, Thomas says she lost both of her her parents and her brother was incarcerated.

With the help of caring strangers, she’s been able to raise money for the trip of her dreams.

“I’ve been getting support from women I don’t even know, and not only women, but men that I don’t even know,” says Thomas. “Different people have been really supportive of me and it’s just really heartwarming. I don’t even have the words for the support I’ve been getting from the people that don’t know me in person, but they really believe in me, and that just really means a lot.”

Thomas says she was shocked to see someone even sponsor her entire flight.
