Animal crackers, pretzels and more on latest food recall list

Here’s a summary of food recalls that have impacted Georgia in the past week or so. For specific product identifiers (lot codes, expiration dates, etc.) and additional info, please click the name below in bold, blue font, which will redirect you to the official recall notice:

  • Armour-Eckrich Meats, LLC – Armour® Snackmakers Keebler Animal Crackers because they contain animal cracker cookies with undeclared peanut residue, an allergen, distributed nationwide.
  • Frito-Lay – Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos tortilla chips because they may contain undeclared milk ingredients, an allergen, distributed in GA and other select states.
  • Simple Health, LLC – Tosi Cappuccino Crunch SuperBites because product of undeclared milk and soy ingredients, allergens.
  • Mars Chocolate North America – select varieties of COMBOS®, including Cheddar Cheese Pretzel, Cheddar Cheese Cracker, Pizzeria Pretzel, Sweet and Salt Caramel Pretzel, Pepperoni Cracker, and Buffalo Pretzel. The recall is due to trace amounts of peanut protein, an undeclared allergen.
  • Nature’s One – 3 lots of PediaSmart®Dairy Vanilla complete nutrition beverage powder packaged in 12.7 oz cans recalled due to possible under-delivery of nutrition (using the smaller scoop only provides 60% of the labeled nutritional content per serving). This product is generally consumed by children 13 months-13 years old; unless this product is used as a sole source of nutrition, there should be no health risk from using the incorrect scoop.
  • Frito-Lay – select Rold Gold Tiny Twists, Rold Gold Thins, Rold Gold Sticks and Rold Gold Honey Wheat Braided due to a potential undeclared peanut allergen, sold nationwide.

New and Expanded/Updated recalls tied to sunflower kernels that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes:

  • Kashi Company – Kashi GOLEAN® Honey Pecan Baklava Bars and Bear Naked® Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter. See the original recall here, and expanded recall here.
  • Honey Bunchie, LLC – Honey Bunchies Gourmet Honey Bars, sold individually and in boxes of 20 count with a best by date of 12/27/2015 – 10/28/2016.
  • Creative Snacks Co. – expanded lot codes of bulk and packaged sunflower seed products, which was distributed to retailers nationwide and is being sold in a variety of formats including plastic rigid containers, small re-sealable bags and in bulk.
  • Bounce USA – Bounce Apple Cinnamon Protein Punch Energy Balls (newly named Apple Cinnamon Protein Energy Balls) distributed nationwide.
  • NoGii – Nuts About Berries Paleo Bars, which may have been sold as a single 1.4 oz. (42g) bar UPC # 856513002259 or in a pack of 9 UPC #856513002273.  The product was distributed nationwide through retail stores and numerous online websites.
  • Rucker’s Wholesale and Service Co Sunflower Kernels, Sweet & Salty Mix, and Cajun Hot Mix, distributed nationwide into retail farm stores, and outdoor sporting good stores.
  • Taylors Candy, Inc. – Stuckey’s bags of Sunflower Kernels, distributed in GA at retail stores, as well as retailers in other select states.
