GSP: 141 crashes, 95 injuries and one fatality in April

VALDOSTA – According to Sergeant First Class Jeromy Roberts, Georgia State PatrolPost #31 Valdosta Troopers investigated 141 traffic crashes, resulting in 95 injuries and one fatality during the month of April 2016.

SFC Roberts also said during the month of April, Post #31 Troopers had the following activity: 555 citations, 27 D.U.I. arrests, 38 Seatbelt Violation citations, 15 Child Restraint Violation citations, 21 Distracted Driving citations and 260 Speeding citations.

Post #31 Troopers also apprehended 1 wanted person and made 16 drug arrests including three felony drug arrests. Troopers had an additional 8 felony arrests.

Post #31 Troopers issued 680 warnings during April and accumulated 15 hours conducting Road-Checks during the month.

SFC Roberts reminds drivers to use caution during the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday Period. Allow ample time when traveling to reach your destination safely.

Always wear your seatbelt and avoid use of any electronic devices while driving. Make sure to use a designated driver if you have consumed any alcoholic beverages.

If your vehicle becomes disabled, remove your vehicle from the roadway if possible and call *GSP if you need assistance.
