Flood waters close second Lowndes road

LOWNDES Co. – The Lowndes County Engineering Department has announced the emergency closure of Jumping Gully Road at the bridge due to the rising flood waters of the Withlacoochee River.

Jumping Gully Road will be closed until the flood waters have receded.

A detour will be established westbound on Loch Laurel Road to GA Hwy 376 to GA Hwy 31 back to Jumping Gully Road. A detour will be established eastbound on GA Hwy 31 to GA Hwy 376 to Loch Laurel Road and back to Jumping Gully Road.

All motorists are encouraged to be cautious when traveling this area and avoid the area if possible. Any questions may be directed to the County Engineer’s office, at 229-671-2424
