Flood warning in effect for Lowndes, Brooks and Madison

TALLHASSEE – The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a flood warning for Brooks, Madison and Lowndes Counties until 5:36 p.m. Thursday.

The flood warning continues for the Withlacooche River above Valdosta (Skipper Bridge Road) affecting Brooks and Lowndes Counties, the Withlacoochee River near Quitman (U.S. 84) affecting Brooks and Lowndes Counties, and the Withlacoochee River near Pinatta (CR 150) affecting Madison County.

At 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Withlacoochee River was above flood stage at 136.2 feet. Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. The river will continue to fall below flood state by Thursday morning, according to the NWS.
