VALDOSTA – A Valdosta business is closed this week after a Tuesday night fire caused substantial damage.

At approximately 11:10 p.m., the Remerton Fire Department and the Valdosta Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Valdosta Pawn at 1401 Baytree Rd., said Inspector Derrick Sinclair with the Remerton Police Department.

The fire appeared to originate in the ceiling and was quickly brought under control, Sinclair said.

Damage was done to the business, but owners expect to re-open soon, Sinclair said.

An investigation into the blaze is ongoing.
