Sheriff Chris Prine announces re-election bid

| March 7, 2016

From Sheriff Chris Prine:

VALDOSTA – Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine announced Monday he is pursuing another term as sheriff.

“Over the past eight years, it has been an honor and privilege to serve the people of Lowndes County,” said Prine. “Because I believe there is still much work to be done to keep our law enforcement office efficient and effective, I have made the decision to run for re-election.”

Since 2008, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has produced a number of accomplishments under Sheriff Prine’s leadership.

First and foremost, the Office has been a good steward of the taxpayer’s money, including: purchasing equipment with drug seized money, saving taxpayers more than 2 million dollars; working with the Lowndes County Board of Education to place a school resource officer in each school; and implementing an ankle monitoring program to reduce the inmate population. Further, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office continues to maintain a progressive and proactive approach in dealing with an ever-evolving criminal justice system.

The Sheriff’s Office has put several initiatives in place under Prine’s watch, including: enhanced set standards for a jail supervision training program; established qualifying standards for academy candidates; partnered with state and federal law enforcement agencies to better deal with criminal elements that effect homeland defense; and implemented the use of body-worn cameras by deputies.

“On behalf of the devoted men and women of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and my family, I want to continue serving as your full-time sheriff, with no outside business or personal stake to gain” said Prine.

Prior to running for Sheriff of Lowndes County, Prine began his law enforcement career working as a deputy sheriff within the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. He later joined the Georgia State Patrol until his retirement with the rank of Captain.

Maybe the sheriff can have his deputys not write $100 tickets to otherwise law abiding citizens. Window tint is not a valid reason to take my hard earned money.

Well apparently you’re not law abiding if your tint was outside the range of law. Just saying.
