VALDOSTA – The first Morning Drive Listener Appreciation Night will be held Tuesday night, March 15, at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn & Conference Center on Hill Avenue. All listeners of the show are encouraged to attend.

Host Chris Beckham said the idea for a “meet and greet” was first discussed on the show in the fall and he is excited about the event.

“We’ve been blessed with great listeners, callers, guests and sponsors and this will be a way for all of them to put some names with some faces and faces with voices that they here each morning,” he said. “I’m excited about it because I’ve never met most of the people who call into the show regularly. It’s going to be laid back, more like a family reunion than anything else.”

Beckham said he will introduce some special guests and make some remarks and he invites others to make remarks as well. He said he didn’t want the night to become a political debate, “I think we’ve had plenty of those to last us all for a while,” but there will be some discussion of issues from a local, state and national perspective.

“We like to think the show has a broad interest because we cover such a variety of topics and it is truly interactive,” he said. “We have no call screeners so if something is on your mind and you follow the guidelines of good taste, you can discuss it. I often tell people that my co-host is that telephone line that is always open. The show belongs to the listeners and so does this night. It’s really just a chance for us to say thank you to the community.”

Beckham said he hopes the event will become an annual gathering.
