Missing Georgia teen found safe, stepfather arrested

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. – A Georgia teen who went missing Tuesday has been found, and her stepfather has been arrested.

An Amber Alert was issued for Alexis Mackenzie Leigh Berry, 15, from Bainbridge Tuesday afternoon. Berry was last seen with her stepfather, Duane Dion Jaso, 43, in Georgetown, Texas, according to reports.

Authorities said they believed Berry was in danger. Berry had voluntarily left Georgia with Jaso on a Sunday trip to Texas.

Jaso’s vehicle was found Tuesday afternoon at in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn Express in Georgetown. Jaso was taken into custody as he exited his hotel room.

Berry is reportedly safe in the care of authorities pending her return to a lawful caregiver, according to reports.
