VALDOSTA – A group of Marines marched into Quitman Monday morning in honor of their fallen brothers who lost their lives last year in a tragic helicopter crash in Navarre, Florida.

“Seven of our brothers were killed along with some members of the flight crew, and we’re rucking, or walking, marching the 770 miles from the crash site, back to where we’re stationed,” said Marine Raider Aaron.

A team of 19 Marine Raiders and Navy Corpsmen, travel in shifts of ten miles carrying 45 pound weighted packs, a Marine Raider flag, an American Flag and a paddle that was recovered at the crash site. Aaron said the goal is for the paddle to move continuously 24 hours a day from the time they started until they reach North Carolina.
