VALDOSTA – The Georgia State Patrol says speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in a fatal crash on Inner Perimeter Road early Sunday.

At approximately 3:04 a.m., GSP Trooper Brian Bass was dispatched to a wreck on Inner Perimeter Road, approximately a half mile north of US 41, said GSP Cpl. Chris Kelch.

“A green Chrysler 300 driven by Arica Ondrae Henderson, 49, of Valdosta was traveling south on Inner Perimeter Road attempting to negotiate a turn,” Kelch said. “The vehicle traveled off the shoulder of the roadway into the grass median. The vehicle then struck a culvert, causing the vehicle to begin to overturn.”

The vehicle overturned several times into the northbound lanes of Inner Perimeter Road.

“The vehicle came to a rest off the east shoulder of Inner Perimeter Road on its top,” Kelch said. “Mr. Henderson was using his seat belt was partially ejected from the vehicle. Mr. Henderson was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Troopers suspect speed and alcohol were contributing factors to the crash, but a toxicology report is pending, Kelch said.

Henderson was the vehicle’s only occupant.
