Golf Heads to Third Round of Bobcat Invitational in 16th Place

EATONTON, Ga. – Chris Rogers highlighted the day for the Valdosta State golf team with a second round score of 2-under 68 on Monday at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia Southwestern, but the Blazers slid the rest of the day to close out the opening two rounds in 16th place among 17 teams competing this week in Eatonton, Ga.

Rogers shot 4-over 74 in round one, which placed him tied for fourth place at the end of the first day. Matt Anderson followed for the Blazers tied for 47th with a combined two rounds of 11-over 151 on the challenging par-70 course at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee.

As a team, the Blazers shot 46-over 606 on the day, and will aim to gain ground in the final round on a group that includes seven of the nation’s top ten teams. Lynn lead the way on day one with an impressive 7-over 567 performance, while St. Leo and Florida Southern rounded out the top three with scores of 20-over 580 and 21-over 581, respectively.

Round three is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, with full results available upon conclusion at www.vstateblazers.com.
