VLPRA temporarily closes Langdale Park

VALDOSTA – The Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority has temporarily closed Langdale Park for renovations.

VLPRA Executive Director George Page says he expects the closure to last several weeks and for the park to re-open late this spring.

“Closing the park to the public will give us the ability to make critical repairs to the property,” Page said.  “Our staff will clear overgrown trails, work on the riverbank area, and upgrade the access road.”

The Authority says it plans to beautify the park and make it more accessible for educational and family-friendly programming by adding plant and wildlife identification.  VLPRA is also looking at potentially adding geocaching sites.

VLPRA is planning a grand re-opening to include guided hikes, a scavenger hunt, music, and more.

“We are thrilled about all the possibilities Langdale Park offers and know it will be a wonderful place for families to enjoy nature,” Page said.
