VLPRA announces dates for free movies in the park

| February 3, 2016

Bring a blanket and the family for a free movie in the park! The Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority will show “Toy Story” at Freedom Park on Friday, February 12th. The G-Rated Disney classic will start at 7:30 PM.

This is VLPRA’s first in a series of four movies this spring and summer. The Authority will show the movie on its new inflatable screen, which is 20 feet wide and 11 feet tall. There is no fee to watch the film and families are encouraged to attend. VLPRA asks that spectators bring a blanket or lawn chairs. No registration is necessary.

VLPRA will host its second film of 2016 in April as part of a special “Movies and Music in the Park” event. The Authority is partnering with the Azalea Winds Community Band, who will play a concert of blockbuster movie theme songs on April 16th in Drexel Park. After the symphony, VLPRA will show the hit movie “Jurassic World” (rated PG-13).

The other movies in the series are “Wreck it Ralph” (rated PG) on Friday, June 10th at Scott Park, and “The Avengers” (rated PG-13) on Friday, July 15th at South Lowndes Recreation Complex.
