ALBANY – Three people were killed Saturday when a small plane crashed shortly after taking off in Albany.

Britt Knight, 40, Brittany Kerfoot, 30, and Kevin Coalson, 49, died when their 2002 Lancair 4 crashed, and investigators say they are in the early stages of determining exactly what happened in the incident, reports WALB.

Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board said it will take months before they know what caused the fatal incident. Investigators are currently documenting skid marks on the runway, weather conditions and other perishable evidence.

NTSB officials also want to speak with any witnesses who may have viewed the airplane at anytime it was in the air. Witness can contact the NTSB at their website.
