Thomasville Caterpillar plant to close

| February 1, 2016

THOMASVILLE – The Thomasville Caterpillar plant will close before the end of the year, a loss of about 200 jobs.

Caterpillar’s Thomasville facility opened 16 years ago and manufactures fuel systems. Employees at the plant were told Friday they were to be among several company locations that would close, including plants in New Mexico and Illinois, reports The Moultrie Observer.

The exact date of the closing has not been determined. Caterpillar expects consolidations, closures and job reductions in China and seven U.S. states will produce a net reduction of approximately 670 job.
