Sewer Main Work on J.L. Lomax, S. Briggs at Savannah, and Florida Ave.

| February 16, 2016

VALDOSTA – Contractors working with the City of Valdosta will be working in the area of J.L. Lomax, S Briggs at Savannah, and Florida Avenue, from Feb 15-19, to rehabilitate the sewer mains in those areas. The work is expected to take place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily, weather permitting.

Given the method of rehabilitation, no road or surface excavations will be required. The contractor will gain access to the sewer mains via existing manholes and use a pipe lining technology to rehabilitate the mains. Traffic interruption should be minimal. This sewer main rehabilitation project is part of the city’s extensive and ongoing sanitary sewer system improvement program.

Traffic control devices and adequate traffic signage will be in place to alert motorists of the work zone and any necessary traffic lane shifts. As always, motorists are urged to drive with caution and follow the traffic warning signs for their safety and the safety of others.

For more information, please call the City of Valdosta Utilities Department at 229-259-3592.  For an update on the city’s ongoing sanitary sewer system improvement program, please visit
