Severe weather expected Tuesday night, Wednesday

VALDOSTA – A potentially damaging storm system is expected to move into south Georgia and north Florida Tuesday night.

The system will bring the potential for severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and tornadoes to the Gulf Coast Tuesday into Tuesday night, and across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region Wednesday into Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee.

This storm will also produce heavy rain from the Miss. Valley to the mid-Atlantic. A swath of heavy snow is also possible in parts of the Midwest and Great Lakes.

Locally, showers and thunderstorms are expected to move in after midnight Tuesday, with the possibility of damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph.

On Wednesday, afternoon thunderstorms could produce winds up to 15 to 20 mph with the possibility of large hail and tornadoes.
