A residential fire in Valdosta caused approximately $10,000 in damages and officials say that the blaze was caused by unattended cooking. The Bell Haven Drive home fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes thanks to the quick and efficient work of firefighters.

A three vehicle accident on Bemis Road brought out emergency personnel. Four persons were transported to South Georgia Medical Center and another victim was airlifted as a result of injuries suffered that were thought to be life-threatening. Valdosta police are investigating.

According to a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump is planning to attend a campaign rally at Valdosta State University February 29th at 6 p.m. The rally is set to take place one day prior to the Georgia primary election and tickets which are self-service can be obtained at the Eventbrite website. However, there have been no official details announced on the Valdosta visit by Trump campaign officials.

A weekend two car accident took the life Of a Cook County resident. The incident occurred on Old Union Road and Highway 37 West. A vehicle driven by Rosa Simmons struck a pickup truck; the driver was identified as Ronald Bennett. Both parties were taken to SGMC, however, Bennett later died as the result of his injuries. Rosa Simmons was treated and released.

Troopers with Post 13 of the Georgia State Patrol report that 53 year old Isaac Rando was attempting to cross Highway 82 in Tift County when he was struck by oncoming traffic. He was run over multiple times and pronounced dead on the scene by EMS officials.

Troopers with Post 31 in Valdosta report that a collision involving a Jeep and a motorcycle at Highway 376 and Whitewater Road took the life of 54 year old Cassandra Davis. The driver of the Jeep has been identified as Cierra Hernandez of Statenville. She failed to yield to Davis who rode the motorcycle causing the accident. Hernandez and her passenger Robert Bellew of Valdosta were not injured. Davis was taken to SGMC where she later died. Charges are currently pending as the investigation is ongoing and Troopers await a toxicology report.
