VALDOSTA – One person is in serious condition and four others were injured in two separate but related traffic accident early Sunday morning.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., the Valdosta Police Department responded to the 2700 block of Bemiss Road in reference to an accident, said VPD Capt. Kari Williams.

“When officers arrived on scene, they discovered that there had been two separate accidents,” Williams said. “During the preliminary investigation, officers discovered that a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by a Hispanic male who has yet to be identified, was traveling southbound in the 2700 block of Bemiss Road in the northbound lane. According to witnesses, the Mitsubishi hit the curb on the east side of the roadway, then collided head-on with a 2012 Ford Fusion that was traveling northbound.”

The Hispanic male driver of the Mitsubishi then got out of the vehicle and began looking at the damage.

“At that time, a 2003 Chrysler Voyager was traveling north in the 2700 block of Bemiss Road and collided with the Hispanic male and the Mitsubishi,” Williams said. “The Hispanic male received serious injuries and was life-flighted to Tallahassee Memorial.”

Four persons, occupants of the Mistubishi and the Fusion, were transported to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

“The Valdosta Police Department Traffic Unit responded to the scene and is continuing to investigate these accidents,” Williams said.
