COOK Co. – One man died, and a woman was injured in a two car collision in Cook County Saturday afternoon, according to reports from the Georgia State Patrol.

At approximately 1 p.m., GSP troopers and emergency services personnel responded to a wreck at the intersection of Old Union Road and Highway 37 West.

Rosa Simmons was reportedly driving a full-sized sedan east on Highway 37 towards Adel. Ronald Bennett was traveling north on Old Union Road and approached a stop sign. Bennett attempted to cross Highway 37 and was T-boned by Simmons’ car.

Bennett was trapped inside his truck after it was knocked onto its side and into a ditch. Fire officials from Adel cut the windshield off his truck to extricate him.

Simmons and Bennett were taken to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

Simmons has been released from the hospital.

Bennett died later that night from his injuries, reports WALB.
