VALDOSTA – Georgia State Patrol investigators are seeking help from the public in gathering information about a Lowndes County traffic accident which killed an Albany woman Friday evening.

The GSP Specialized Collision Team is asking for potential witnesses to come forward with information about the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Georgia Highway 376 and Whitewater Road on Friday at 6:45 p.m.

Cierra Megan Hernandez, 26, of Statenville was reportedly driving a 2004 Jeep Cherokee east on GA 376. Cassandra Davis, 54, was reportedly traveling west on GA 376, reports stated.

“Ms. Hernandez failed to yield to Ms. Davis when turning left onto Whitewater Road, traveling into the path of the motorcycle,” said GSP Cpl. Chris Kelch. “The motorcycle struck the front passenger side of the Cherokee. Ms. Davis was transported to South Georgia Medical Center and pronounced deceased.”

Hernandez and a passenger in the Cherokee, Robert Joseph Bellew, 26, of Valdosta, were not injured in the collision, reports stated.

The GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision and charges will be pending the outcome of their investigation.

“Troopers do suspect drugs to be a contributing factor in the collision but will be pending a toxicology report,” Kelch said.

Anyone with information about the accident can contact SCRT at GSP Post 31 at (229) 333-5215.
