THOMAS CO. – On Feb. 22, and a man and his daughter were killed, and three family members were injured in an accident in Thomas County; now friends and family are seeking to raise funds for the surviving family members.

Just before noon on Monday, a Thomas County prison van “t-boned” a Chevrolet Suburban near the intersection of Highway 84 and Crab Apple Drive, according to reports from the Georgia State Patrol.

The driver of the Suburban, Bobby Joe Edwards, 40, of Troy, Alabama, died at the scene of the incident. His daughter, Lacie Edwards, 6, died later at the hospital, reports stated, reports WALB.

Three other passengers, Shirley Hunt, Robyn Edwards and Johnny Ray Whitehead, were transported to Archbold Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver was the only occupant of the prison van and was not injured in the crash. GSP officials have not yet stated whether or not charges will be filled in the incident.

Friends and family members have established a GoFundMe page to help raise money for recovery expenses.

“They lost two family members.  The three survivors are facing a very long, hard road ahead of them.  Not just physically, not just mentally, but financially,” states a post on the site.  “If you can’t donate financially, please add them to your prayer list.”
