VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State was picked to finish sixth in the Gulf South Conference this season in a preseason poll conducted amongst the league coaches, as announced by the GSC Office Wednesday.

The Blazers received 58 points in the poll, including one vote at third and fourth place, three fifth place votes, and five votes for sixth.

West Alabama topped the poll as the defending 2015 GSC Champions, edging out West Florida’s 87 points with 89 points on four first place votes, two second place votes, three third place votes, and one nod for the fourth place position. Delta State picked up two votes for first place and four for second place to finish third in the poll with 81 points, while Alabama-Huntsville and West Georgia claimed the fourth and fifth positions with 72 and 59 points, respectively. The Blazers will open up their season on the road on January 30 in Dahlonega, Ga. against North Georgia at noon.
